A Brief Overview......

Bluffton Self Help exists in order to help our neighbors in need of food, clothing, educational and financial assistance, and to provide programs that promote self-worth, dignity and create a pathway to personal success.



  • Created by Bluffton resident Ida Martin in her garage

  • Chartered in October 1988

  • Recipient of the Presidential Citizens Medal in 2011

  • Originally based in Old Town Bluffton police station

  • Moved to new facility in November 2011



Wellness Food Pantry

  • Client centered experience with access to fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, dairy, and non-perishable food items

  • Distributed more than 475,000 pounds of food to 854 Bluffton families


Emergency Financial Assistance

  • Providing access to funds during catastrophes

  • Assisting families with medical emergencies and other family crises


Education & Resource Center

  • New program started in 2018

  • Assistance with tax preparation

  • Job Training

  • Financial education

  • Credit Counselling


Holiday Services

  • Providing School Supplies

  • Food

  • Clothing

  • Holiday Toy SHop
